"Oh, I want to go to the sea again" these simple lyrics in Damh the Bard's song The Selkie seem to encompass so much emotion within me as well as pull on my heart strings. Its nice to hear the longing I have in my heart in another's song. The ocean is a place of such strong magick for me and I ache to be by that shore gazing upon all it's blessed wonders. This song takes on my voice of longing to dance with all the power of the sea. It speaks my longing to touch those waters and feel the blessed energy that is our earth mother's blood. I am a person of simple pleasures and simply seeing the ocean and feeling it's strong energy would fill by heart with awe and peace. I was born an air sign but my heart has always belonged to the water. The flow of the river and the waves rippling through the lake have always enchanted my eyes and soul. I just feel something so strong from water. Water is the one thing every being on earth needs and so its power and energy is unimagined. Maybe we can connect to it because water is within us as well. As it is the blood in us it is the blood of the earth. Water is like the blood of the earth because it flows throughout the earth like the blood flows through our veins and it keeps us all alive. They always say "As above, So below", but maybe its "As without, so within" because every aspect of our bodies reflects on the earth and sky somehow. How can people disrespect the earth so much when we are so clearly birthed of her flesh and blood ourselves. I really love Damh's music though. He really speaks to me with his lyrics. He sings the truth that i've felt in my heart for the longest time. Bards in ancient times were storytellers who had power through words and he really takes on that role. Each day I listen to his music to find comfort and love. He has felt the earth as I have and become one with all the relations. This truth is aflame in each word he sings in his beautiful songs.
